Lessons About Animation
If you want to become a successful video animator, then there are these fifteen points that you should learn to create the excellent video animations.
1) Draw and Redraw the Sketches until They Look Unprompted:
The element of being spontaneous should not be missed out from the animations or the drawings that you are creating for the video. If the sketches do not look as if the actions are performed naturally, then you have to keep redrawing them until it seems like they are moving in an unplanned pattern.
2) Think Creatively to Grasp the Audience’s Attention:
Animated videos are created to entertain people or conveying some useful message to them. If the audience won’t find the video to be interesting, then your work would be nothing less than a failure. If you want your work to be a success, then it is important that you think out of the box and create something eye-catching for everyone to take it into their consideration.
3) Perceive from the Real-Life Characters by Observing Them:
Study the movements and actions of the actual characters to infer them in the animations that you want to create. Observe the movements, and learn the ways they are performing the activities.
4) Learn the Psychology of the Movement & Apply Them in Your Designs:
Every object moves according to the weight and height they carry. It is the movement psychology that helps a person to understand how a person or any other object tends to move. For the animator, it is necessary that they know the movement psychology to understand whether they should be moving swiftly or at a slow speed.
5) Study the Gravity Effects & Utilize Them in The Drawings:
Gravity effects will help the characters, and other substances look realistic. Give more depth to the drawings and apply the gravity effects to give a proper and real-life look to them.
6) Perform the Actions & Record Them Before You Finalize Them:
If you carry out the actions before you apply them to the sketches, I will make you see whether the movement looks appropriate or not. It will be difficult to change the movements and actions of the characters once they are being applied in the video.
7) Keep Your Work Simple:
The clothing and structure of the characters, the design of background scenes, and every other object must be designed in a very simple way. There should not be any complicated designs to confuse the audience. The simpler you will keep your work, the more attractive it will look like.
8) Timed the Movements and Actions of the Characters:
Every character’s movements should be fixed according to the time slots assigned to them. No character should move or perform actions more than it is necessary.
9) Primary Positions Should Be Implemented First:
Developing the key poses will help you lead towards the other secondary movements, therefore creating the basic poses in the start is a better option.
10) Use the Eyes to Lead to The Next Action:
In many animations, animators use the movement of eyes to guide the viewers to predict the next move of the characters.
11) Keeping the Actions, Reactions & Anticipations In Spotlight:
Acknowledge how the characters are going to act and react in a particular situation, and how they are going to anticipate the movements.
12) Not Necessary to Form Every Letter of the Character’s Speech:
It has been observed in many animated movies that the characters do not form each letter of every word they pronounce. You are making an animated videos, not a real-life video; there is no need to create all the letters of the speech.
13) Do Not Over Animate Any One Scene:
Over animating any scene means merely that you are implementing too many movements in a single act which will leave the audience confused as it will be difficult for them to focus on any one action.
14) Scripting Should Be Done to Entertain the Audience:
The script plays a vital role in making any video a super-hit. If the scripting has flaws and the animations are ravishing, it would still be a tragedy since people are more into the story rather than the images. Both the script and animations should be of equally good quality.
15) Read The Script Out Loud Before You Finalize It:
Reading your script in a loud voice will help you know does the story sounds perfect or not. It will also make you see that whether there is anything or any scene that is needed to be changed.
